the boy loves his mother! and you will, too.
i have seen him so many times and had several conversations with him, i think it is safe to say it is basically completely factual
Down to earth and charming would be a great way to describe this book. Rick Bragg has such a wonderful way with words. He takes you to another place and time and makes you feel like you want to know these people.
Absolutely wonderful...and his other two- "Ava's Man" and "Prince of Frogtown" are just as great.
I loved "The Glass Castle', is this one similar?
Rick Bragg's writing is better than Glass Castle, IMO, but otherwise they're both about growing up in dysfunctional families and making peace with it. I would agree that Ava's Man is just as good. However, I didn't think that Prince of Frogtown did Bragg justice. There was too little substance there (which may be because he couldn't discover much about his father after all these years).
