“How much fun would it be to be a thief who steals EXTREMELY valuable things? How much trouble would it cause if that thief gets caught while executing her job? Which is it?”Mariska wrote this review Wednesday, April 3, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“The main character of this story is scrappy and tough. She is an art thief! Her father has been framed for stealing something from a mob boss in Italy. It is her job to fix things. The writing in this story is great! Carter is a fantastic writer. It reminds me of her Galagher Girls spy books.”Mr. C wrote this review Friday, March 22, 2013. “Kat is attempting to live a "normal" life by enrolling at Calgon, a private school with very wealthy students. Her attempt ends, however, when someone frames her for placing the headmaster's classic Porsche on top of the school's fountain. She is then thrust back into her family's business...thieving. Her father has been accused of stealing five priceless paintings from an Italian mobster, and Katarina has to steal them back. Can she put her crew back together and find and steal the paintings in time to save her father? ”Glenda H wrote this review Monday, March 18, 2013. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? “Kat's family business isn't your typical venture. For this 15 year old, learning how to pull off a con or steal from a maximum security facility was like learning to tie your shoes or ride a bike. It's just what you learn how to do, surrounded by the people who know the ropes. And even though she had decided she was done with that life, a family friend with connections gives her the perfect reason to do one last job: some incredible artwork has been stolen and her dad has been framed.
Time is of the essence and Kat's going to have to figure this one out on her own. Well, on her own with some teenage accomplices with skills that just might be enough help to pull it off.
Thanks, Melissa, for the recommendation. Probably I wouldn't have tried this but it was absolutely unputdownable fun. The writing is sharp and fast-paced and, surprisingly, with some heart. I liked the "Robin Hood" slant to the plot and there were a few really great twists. I can't actually complain about anything from off the top of my head, so, good times. ”
