The subject matter made it difficult to get through, but the language was beautiful. Went on and on in some parts, but in others, such as the end scene with Cue, are beautifully and creatively written.

I found this book very different and kind of disgusting. I think it was very graphic and the situation unappealing but despite this I was unable to put this book down. Its very interesting to read about a relationship as unique and unaccepted as this one between a man much older than the girl he was dating. In my opinion it is wrong but after reading this book, although my opinions on the matter haven't changed, I felt differently about the characters. The man seemed less like an enemy to me and more like a normal person. This kind of scared me about the book, that it could change my views without me consciously realizing. I would recommend this book for people that want to explore topics that aren't usually talked about in literature for people my age.

Fantastic read, a perfect mix of dark comedy and heart wrenching detail.

This book was really awesome. While it was one of the most demented, peculiar things that I have read, it was interesting and it kept me engaged the whole time. Lolita is about a man who is in love with a little girl. I really like odd things, which is why I especially enjoyed this book. For some reason I did not find it as sickening as I thought it would be, because it was written in a very artful and tasteful manner. I hear stories like these all the time,on Dateline NBC or on the news, and I find those people to be absolutely disgusting. But for some reason he wasnt. Although it is not good that he is a pedo, the way it was written made it seem less gross.

I first read "The enchanter", which is a short novel Nabokov wrote as a plan for what was next to become "Lolita". I didn't like "The enchanter" too much, but I decided to give "Lolita" a try. And I loved it. It is so beautifully written, that, unbelievably, after all he has done, you don't even despise Humbert. I think it is the kind of book you either end up loving or totally disliking, no middle way.

That Nabokov is ridiculous. The annotated version showed me so much stuff I never would've caught on my own. Still, the book is brilliant, and I have a greater appreciation for it having read the annotation by Appel.

I could read this book over and over again. My aesthetic appreciation of this book is comparable to HH's for Lolita. The plot is just the foundation and the real beauty is in how the language is manipulated and played with.
