The novel’s narrator, Humbert Humbert, remains a memorable literary villain drawn from the literary gene pool of Iago or Roger Chillingworth. And like the above villains, Humbert takes...” see full review » see other reviews » |
“Lo-li-ta.

Sometimes it felt wrong to be laughing, but it really is somewhat humorous at times. And I think it says a lot about the writer that he made me feel sorry for the narrator even though the dude was having sex with his 13-year-old step-daughter. Obviously I don't agree with what the guy was doing, but I was still able to appreciate the way he described how it felt to be in love.”

I think it was very graphic and the situation unappealing but despite this I was unable to put this book down. Its very interesting to read about a relationship as unique and unaccepted as this one between a man much older than the girl he was dating. In my opinion it is wrong but after reading this book, although my opinions on the matter haven't changed, I felt differently about the characters. The man seemed less like an enemy to me and more like a normal person. This kind of scared me about the book, that it could change my views without me consciously realizing. I would recommend this book for people that want to explore topics that aren't usually talked about in literature for people my age.”

While it was one of the most demented, peculiar things that I have read, it was interesting and it kept me engaged the whole time. Lolita is about a man who is in love with a little girl. I really like odd things, which is why I especially enjoyed this book. For some reason I did not find it as sickening as I thought it would be, because it was written in a very artful and tasteful manner. I hear stories like these all the time,on Dateline NBC or on the news, and I find those people to be absolutely disgusting. But for some reason he wasnt. Although it is not good that he is a pedo, the way it was written made it seem less gross.”
