This is a very different take on the tradtional Westerns than I'm used to reading (or watching for that matter). The Protaganist brought to my mind is Clint Eastwood's character from Unforgiven, William Munny, and what he would have been like in his younger days. Violence, gore and not much in the way of redeeming values cast the characters of this novel into a limbo of sorts. Rather than heroes, they are more villianous survivors of a lawless wilderness that gives it right back to them. ...
