Not nearly as good as the Power and the Glory. Kind of dawdled, and a little sexist. Never really got going for me.

I am a fan of Graham Greene, and this is my second favorite book of his. The characters are all somewhat unpleasant, but the subtleties of descriptions, the slight mystery to the plot, and the cynical observations of one of the main characters makes this an excellent read. It is set in Viet Nam a short few years before America began getting directly involved. It certainly was precognitive about the whys and wheres of the political situation there.
