“without the usual magical realist style, this straight forward narrative of love, longing and the late 60's did not hold me as his books usually do and it possibly due to its dark world of death (half the characters go dying like nine pins) and schizophrenia... but it can be moving in parts and started out well but i think it is not as memorable as kafka on the shore.... the flaw is mostly in the lack of development in the characters.... they are all so static over the two year period... except Midori who is alive and real. All the same if you are romantic enough the book would work for you.”
