In my opinion, one of the best of Murakami's works. It's surreal, beautiful, and moving.

My second favorite Murakami book, but much more complex than Norwegian Wood. While Norwegian Wood is pretty straightforward, it's amazing for a different way. Norwegian Wood has a relatively small cast of four primary characters, and about seven characters who play major roles at all. The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle has one primary character, while the other major characters enter and exit the book sporadically, but rarely without telling their own stories. Like with all of Murakami's novels, each of the characters has their own voice, and each of the stories tie together in a roughly wrapped package. It's a book that should be read more than once to understand.

Single greatest book I've ever read. It's mind-blowingly beautiful.

Murakami really brings you into a world that feels completely surreal but still believable. A fascinating book

Really well written, story structure was extremely complicated and intricate, but all the allusions to dreams and "is this real or not" made it seem cheesy.

I was thoroughly enjoying this book until it became a little too surreal and unworldly for me. It had a down-to-earth feeling but lost me in the end. But still an engaging book that I am glad to have read for one of my book clubs in California.
