LIked the Liar's Club, but just couldn't make myself read but the first quarter of this book. I was just slogging through, and finally I gave up.

Much less compelling than the other 2, but worth it if you are a fan.

I read this years ago and highly recommend it and Mary Karr's earlier memoir The Liar's Club that chronicles her earlier years. You should read that one first. One of the great voices in American Lit who writes about things every girl/woman can identify with in the most gorgeous prose.

Out of all three of Mary's memoir, this one blew me away with each paragraph. Every single one was filled to the brim with Mary's pure and cutting poetry.

Mary Karr continues her life story and does not disappoint. In each of her three autobiographies, she struggles to define herself and deal with her incredibly dysfunctional parents.

I found myself laughing out loud while reading this book. Her descriptions of various acid trips had me reading like I was in a trance. What a funny/poignant /unconventional ending to a memoir. Loved it.

This memoir is a meaningful, moving account of Mary Karr's adolescence. Karr's unabashed, funny, poetic voice never fails to engage, entertain, and enlighten.
