When I finished this book, I actually went into mourning. If only I could re-read it for the first time.

    Kim,
I totally agree! The characters were so compelling! I was close to tears.
"Prayer" was the first book by Irving I read. I also enjoyed "Cider House Rules," but "The World According to Garp" was a dud.

I will have to go to the reviews of the "World according to Garp" I thought it was weird but very interesting. I read it about 25 years ago. Maybe it is dated. Keep in mind it was supposed to be funny.
