I have a love-hate relationship with John Irving . . . Garp is one of my favorite books ever so I've tried reading most of his books. About 50% of the time I just can't get connected. For me, A Widow for One Year is up there with Garp; I reread Widow recently and so loved his writing that I went out and bought Until I Find You. I finished it, but wouldn't be inclined to reommend it.

If you read and liked the Widow, see "The Door in the Floor." It covers the first half of the book with actors Jeff Bridges and Kim Basinger. Seldom does a book make the transition to the screen without losing a lot. Screenwriter and director did a great job on this one.
