This book is incredible. The first Pulitzer Prize winner I've ever read- and I understand completely why it won. His storytelling ability is incredible-, vivid enough to picture every scene. I highly recommend you read it.

I have just begun reading the book. I must say that it has been hard to put down. I hope to finish it this weekend. At the moment, I must say it is a wonderful book.

Often, his descriptions are poetic. You can read a paragraph and enjoy it without knowing the story. The story did drag at parts and some generations weren't as interesting as others. While the buildup to Callie's story took more than three fourths of the book, I found the ending to be too quick! I'd rather hear more of the journey to the west coast and her coming to understand of who she is. I agree with another post - the narrators jump from person to person was a bit hard to follow. The author should have included a family tree.
