Didn’t Like It“Recommended ages 12 & up. |
“Recommended ages 12 & up.
It was short, non-fiction, and, in my opinion, poorly written. One of the very few redeeming facts about this book was that it brought some light to a little-known disease, trichotillomania (trich), or as Marni describes it, "pulling" (hair, eyelashes and eyebrows).”
“I read the book "Marni by Marni Bates" the theme is think before you do. Marni grew up in a household of stress, her parents go t deviorced and she has to listen to her dad complain about her mom on her visits. So far she grew up watching her sister be disliked by her father because she was smart but the truth is marni is a total book worm. All her dad thinks of her is she is a pretty well behaived stupid little girl and that is what it takes for her dad to like her but that is starting to come back and bite her on the buttt because thats all she is in her dads eyes. Now on top of that the stress of high school and home life causes her to puul her hair out. She likes the feel of the rip but sh efinds out her obbession with pulling turns out to be a horriabale medical condition called tritch. This book is non-fiction it realates to the real marni bates's life. I gave this book a three just because it was not my favoroite but it was good. ”

The teen tells how she discovered the reasons behind her impulsive behavior and how she dealt with the embarrasing results of her actions.”

She's thrilled to eventually learn that her nervous disorder has a name, trichotillomania. Far from being a "disease of the week" story, this is really the story of a teenage girl dealing with middle and high school horrors the best she can. Marni takes a humorous approach to her life, making it a fast and entertaining read.”
