It is not only clever, but very well written, with great characters and lots of sorrow interlaced with much humor. The mysteries are engrossing, but it is the narrative that grabs your interest throughout the book. |

“Very good book, with three different and cold cases which a PI has to solve. The description of the characters is great, the untangling of the mysteries, the families. All very well written.

“Strange and sort of depressing, this more or less focuses on Jackson Brodie, a British private investigator who coincidentally becomes involved in several cold cases, all involving macabre murders.”

“I really liked the first two thirds of this book and had a hard time putting it down. To me, the ending did not live up to the beginning and I was disappointed in it.”

(Well, except for having the homeless girl be the lost daughter-- that was contrived.) An exceptional book -- complex characters, several intriguing storylines, gorgeous style. A grand slam with fireworks and a chili dog. Grade: A+”
