The Last Vampire is quite literally, the story of supposedly, the last vampire, Alisa Perne. It is written in the first person, described as a personal account of Alisa Perne herself.

The story opens with Alisa's visit to Michael Riley, a private detective, who seemed to have uncovered a lot of information about Alisa's assets. Mr. Riley was thinking of blackmailing Alisa but unfortunately met his death when he refused to accept Alisa's million dollar offer.

Fearing that her identity is compromised and thinking that someone may be on to her trail or vampire nature, Alisa befriends Mr. Riley's son, Ray, who happens to remind her of her human life...
