I thought this book was a look into serious depression and how it was viewed in this period of time. The main characters affairs and her retail therapy were her ways of trying to make herself happy, but nothing was ever going to. I really hated the draper who completely took advantage of her. Glad I read it once, but not again.

Madam Bovary is a classic novel read in college! The character so vivid and its realistic portrayal leaves the reader apprehensive! An unusual character to deal with and accept! A must read!
