Don't let the lightweight cover fool you, this is an important and well written book. For the longest time I have noticed the empty headed optimism that seems to be so common in America and I was certain that it was at least partly responsible for many of the problems we have as a country and I was also certain that it had something to do with the over abundance of religious faith we still have here compared to other "modern" countries. This book makes all the connections and fills in all the blanks, and tells the story of how the lucrative positive thinking and motivational speaking industry has found a new home in the Christian Mega Churches. We really can't afford a further decline of critical thinking skills. All should read this book, but few will, mostly because it might cause a breeze to blow in their carefully constructed house of cards world view.
