“Call # F Bil
Book 1 in the Good Girlz series”
“Very good realistic fiction. It's a series that will be great. I believe a lot of girls should read this--might get the message across about believing/loving/caring for themselves, learning self-confidence and how to deal with family relationships. Highly recommend it.”Sydney wrote this review Saturday, August 13, 2011. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No

“Camille is odered to join a church group called the Good Girls since she was hiding her boyfriend from the police. He got sent to jail for stealing someone's car, even though he says he didn't do it. When he gets out of jail Camille meets up with him at her Grandma's house since she was out of town that week. But he doesn't tell her that he broke out of prison, and wasn't actually released. In the court room she finds out that Keith has another girlfriend and that he is her baby's mama. But Keith keeps saying that she is just some crazy gurk that keeps follwing him around, and Camille actually beleives him. At the Good Girls club she meets Angel, who is pregnant and the dad of the baby denies even knowing her. Jasmine, the 'tough girl' who has anger issues and gets into fights a lot because of people making fun of her size and how she talks, walks, dresses, and acts like a boy. And finally Alexis who is a total rich daddy's girl who thinks she's all that. But really her nineteen year old sister has mental reterdation so she acts like a little girl. So she lives at Greens Psychiatric Hospital to help her for it, but so far there is little sign of progress. She gets to visit her for maybe an hour or two every week or every other week but thats it. Her mother is severely depressed and always locks herself in her room for a few days after each visit because she blames herself for the way her sister is even though the doctor saiys that she was born with a rare gene that made her the way she is. "With my father always off on business and my mother constantly in a world of her own, I didn't know what to do to make my family better." Each girl in this story has her own struggle and the four of them work to gether to help each other. Even though there lives still aren't picture perfect, they are just that much better.”Amber C wrote this review Monday, April 13, 2009. ( reply | permalink ) Was this review helpful? Yes | No
“Rachel, the first lady of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, founded Good Girlz Club, and Camille, Angel, Jasmine and Alexis all have different reasons for becoming a part of this community service group.
Honor Thy Mother and Father is the theme of this first book in Billingsley's Christian teen series. Camille seemed to be the only one who had a real problem obeying the Fifth Commandment, while it appeared that Angel (hurting & confused), Jasmine (angry & defensive) and Alexis (misunderstood) just needed their parents to show them love. Camille was disrespectful toward her mother, causing this hard-working woman all kinds of stress, throughout most of the story, and it took a life-threatening situation for her to appreciate the one parent she had left.
Teen sex & pregnancy, the mistakes girls can make when it comes to so-called boyfriends, running away, knowing how to recognize true friendship, and not taking a good parent for granted - all of these issues were addressed in this very interesting read.
This one was definitely a page-turner, and I couldn't turn the pages fast enough while reading Chapter 21! I plan to buy the other books in this series very soon. ”
