“What would happen to everything on this Earth if we all disappeared? Trees, buildings, plastics, animals? Very interesting book! ”

The author describes how everything from homes to roads, factories and oil fields will eventually be broken down by nature as the Earth reclaims itself from human tampering. It also talks about the resurgence of animal and floral life and the disasterous legacy of plastics. Interesting but tends to plod in parts.”

What if all humans were suddenly to disappear? Maybe a pandemic specific only to humans, or else the rapture arrives and spirits everyone off the planet. How long would our cities last before returning to wilderness? (Not long at all, as it turns out.) What about impressive feats of engineering like the Chunnel between France and England, or the Panama Canal? What would happen to agricultural cropland and farm animals? Nuclear power plants?
There are places in the world that give us an indication of the resiliency of nature; places like the area around Chernobyl and the Demilitarized Zone between North and South Korea. There are some scary things to think about in this book but there is also hope. It's a fascinating combination of science and imagination.”
“Interesting concept...what would the world look like if all of the human disappeared tomorrow.”

It discusses whether or not we would ever evolve again, what would happen to all of the cities and farms and buildings and pretty much whatever else humans had put on this Earth. What species would thrive, which ones would disappear and become extinct? Would our "legacy" live on into the entire universe, from a "time capsule" on one of the Voyager missions, or an "I Love Lucy" episode beamed into outer space on radio waves. Even though the history parts about Africa and many different species got tiring for me, I enjoyed it and would reccomend it to anyone who enjoys the subjects of Chemistry, astronomy, biology, and much more.”
