“This a a great read- It is based on the fairy tale "Maid Maleen" by the brothers Grimm, but retold in a medieval Mongolian setting. The setting is a strong one, and keeps the story alive and interesting as much as the characters do. Written as a common serving girls diary, it tells of her devotion to her lady banished to a tower, her love for a khan, her talent for singing healing songs, and her bravery in exposing and overcoming the evil Lord Khasar. Very satisfying!”
