sentimental fave because this started my love love affair with the HP books.... from number 4 Privet Drive's cupboard under the stairs (sniff! sniff! he lived here?!) to Diagon Alley and Hogwarts, i cared for little else while engrossed in its pages; i could not put this down!! Not often does an adult get swept once more into the childlike world of fantasy, with an easily forgotten desire to go back to reality, but with Harry Potter, I did not stand a chance. Simply beautiful! (",)

My favourite out of the first five, it isn't nearly as descriptive as the other ones, which is most likely why i enjoyed it soo much, it is a light read intruducing you too all of the charecters telling you about harrys dark past with Lord Voldimort and Harry's perants, a totally enjoyable read altogether.

I finally read it! And I can see what all the buzz has been about. Rowling has an engaging style that makes the magical seem real, and her characters are believable. I'm not sure I'll commit to reading the rest of the series (those books are awfully long, life is short, and there are so many other books I want to read. . . ), but I'm glad I read this one.
