All of these multi colored rings popping up and their relation to one another seems like it will make for an interesting puzzle at some point in blackest night. This particular book was a lot of fun, watching Hal interact with 4 colors of ring at once, and the moves that the Star Sapphires have started to make were interesting too.

What Geoff Johns does well in his ongoing Green Lantern series is lay the ground work for stories that will be told down the line, and some old fashioned grand sweeping space opera. He evens adds some nice character touches to the Guardians, Controllers, Hal Jordan, Carol Ferris and John Stewart.

What Geoff Johns does poorly, that still drives me crazy, are the fantasy elements he adds to a series created by science fictions writers (Gardner Fox, Alfred Bester and John Broome). What he does at times is almost as bad as George Lucas's mid-cholrians.

Another awesome read from Geoff Johns. He has certainly put GL on the map. Can't wait for the compilation of Brightest Day next year and for the film version with Ryan Reynolds.

But for now Hal Jordan is riding high with this prequel; along with his other GL pals. :)

A must for GL fans and followers of The Blackest Night
