“is this book considered historical fiction?”
“i wanna know how this all started. wat made the people believe there were actual witches? i read this quote in school..." we are never deiceved; we deceive ourselves." this qoute seems to fit with the book kind of. ”
“So far i have only read actI of The Crucible. there were three chracters that stood out to me Abigail Williams also Mr. & Mrs. Putnam. I was just astonished of Abaigails selfishness, she only cared about her self and only her self she only worried about keeping herself out of trouble and not concernd about the out come of what would happen to the people she had accused to save her self, she kindof adds a little comic relief when she tries to saduse Proctor =)~. Mr&Mrs. Putnam were also a self centered couple. I feel that they were the cause of the "witch" tensions in their town Mrs. Putnam accused people only because of the the death of her babies an the sickness of her child so she felt it was witch craft. Mr. Putnam didn't have a care in the world about the witch accusations, he only cared about owning land adn the more witches were accused it was more land that he could take. ”
“Sophomore year at GRHS required reading: I found that I could read it better away from the classroom- it took the fun out of it... and people in my class weren't mature to handle something like this, which is too bad because I felt I could have really liked it otherwise”
“Isn't it amazing that Arthur Miller weaves so much irony into what appears to be a play about the Salem Witch Trials? When Proctor omits the 7th commandment, and Elizabeth says, "Adultery John," as I stay to my students, "Um ... wowzers!!!"”
“One of my absolute FAVORITE plays. The end made me weep it was so powerful. What an amazing story. It decieves you into thinking it's about outer struggle, but by the end you realize the struggle has come from within all along.”
“This novel is an intense and powerful story about the Salem Witch Trials. This novel really showed how people were accused of being witches during this time period in Salem, Massachusetts. People were usually put on trial or hung because there were accusations of them being witches. Arthur Miller showed the full extent to Salem trial transcripts in detail, even making a convincing attempt to re-create 17th century language. Many were executed and it was their courage on the scaffold that helped convinced the citizens of Salem to stop the reign of terror. My favorite part in this book is when one of the main characters, Abigail, tells on another girl claiming shes a witch and the girl Mary Allen is put on trial and everything. It shows the real version of these trials and how these girls made other girls pretend to make them seem as they were real witches. ”
“I really liked this book. What was your favorite part?”
