With the steady decline in church attendance especially from the youth this book is a must read for any church leader who would like to know how to stay biblical but maybe make their church relevant to the youth again. Hint, hint if you are southern baptist read this.

This is an attempt to shed light on how the failure of christians to represent Christ leaves culture to condemn the church as hypocritical and irrelevant. Without demonstrating love in tangible ways, it's difficult for the church to communicate the gospel. The person and teachings of Jesus, though confusing, confrontational, and radical still hold fascination for those outside the organized church.

Now this book was a challenge and it was a great punch in the face to all sunday morning church-goers. Buy this one and make yourself mad.

Unfortunately, many of the reactions to the church in Dan Kimball's book seem to be similar to my experience with those outside the church. As a pastor, I am saddened by this response and frustrated by the church's general resistance to listen. On the flip side, I struggle with accommodating those who have little or no experience of the church but are quick to judge it from a distance. This is a thought-provoking read.

A great read for anyone unclear about the direction of the church in the next ten years, or someone wanting to be able to have reasonable conversations with those outside the church culture.

This book will be out in Feb '07 it is a MUST read for everyone who is frustrated with the new chasm Christians have made between the common person and God. GREAT perspective. Dan has done his homework while interviewing many people to gather this maddening information!
