“Now that I have finished this book, I believe it is a spoof on literature and cults. It is the ultimate novel of appropriation. Even the angel relentless pursued throughtout the novel turns out to be appropriated from The Blue Angel, ironically just another movie star and an early sign of infestation from the west. The book itself is composed of appropriated jewels stolen from historical works. And the hero resembles Raskolnikov more than K or any Marquez figure, especially in his egomanical view of life that propels him to commit an essentially meaningless murder. While the last part was more interesting than the middle section, the novel was an unimaginative letdown.”
