• Rowan Forestal: Rowan is the duchess's daughter and one of Conn's only friends. She is very smart and strong.
• Embre: Embre is a pyrotechnist in the Twilight. He is about 18 years old.
• Nevery Flinglas: Connwaer's master and city magister. He's often hasty and has little patience, but deep down he does care for a few people.
• Benet: A very strong man. Nevery's bodyguard. Even though he is very strong, he knits and cooks.
• Kerrn: A very strict captain of the guards for The Duchess. She despises Connwaer on the outside but really she has tiny feelings for him and cares for him
• Arhionvar: An evil magic with a sinister feeling. The magic is considered a predator magic and does not stay at designated town.
• Heartsease: The place where Nevery, Conn, and Benet live. It has a hole in the middle like a bite because of Nevery's pyrotechnic experiments.Then Conn destroyed it with his pyrotechnic experiments too. They had it rebuilt later on
• Conn: Young Wizards apprentice who lost his Locus Magicalicus, which allows him to do magic. He is the main Character and also a highly talented thief. Before he became a wizard's apprentice he was a gutter boy in the Twilight.
• Argent: A sword-crafter and friend of Rowan. He seems to loathe Conn because he is a gutterboy and has no manners whatsoever.
• Desh: Another magic victim of Arhionvar.
• Wellmet: a warm and great magic unlike Arhionvar. Also the name of the town Nevery, Conn, and the rest of main cast live.
• Lady Rowan: One of Conn's only friends, and his best friend. Daughter of the Duchess and skilled sword-crafter.
• Pip: A kitten-sized, mischievous dragon who is a lotus magiclus

1. Sarah Prineas (Author) - Sarah Prineas lives in the midst of the corn in Iowa City, Iowa, and can usually be found writing fantasy novels and stories on a matte-black stealth MacBook called Sparks. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in English literature and recently taught honors seminars on fantasy and science fiction literature at the University of Iowa. She has an amazing dragon action-figure collection and occasionally bakes biscuits (although she says hers never seem to turn out as tasty as Benet's do in the magic thief). Sarah is married to John Prineas, a physics professor, which comes in handy when she's writing about magic prisoning devices. They are the parents of Maud and Theo.
