A life of Kit Carson minus the myths. The background history is fascinating, one of the new breed of biographies that read like fiction. If you have an interest in the West, it is a must read.

I'm sorry but I was just unable to finish this book. It was the January book for my book club. I enjoyed the writing but I guess I just didn't care enough about the subject matter to stick with it. Since it is one I own, I may go back to it eventually. My husband absolutely loved the book and found Kit Carson's life fascinating.

    The Exploration of the west

This is a fascinatig story with the key players being Kit Carson, President Polk, General Kearny, Comanche and Navajo indians. Beutifully written showing how the country became a continental nation.
