This book, "Miss Alaineus" is funny, witty, and full of great vocabulary. Young readers will learn an avalanche of new words in this book! They will also develop a better understanding of figurative language. To integrate this book into a classroom activity, we would do the same thing we did in my college class... each student would think of a figurative language phrase (such as "green with envy") and share it with the class.

Miss Alaineus is hilarious, witty, and full of great vocabulary. Young readers will learn a plethora of new words as well as a better understanding of figurative language. The story also touches on aspects other than academics, as the protagonist learns important lessons in humility and appropriately overcoming an embarrassing situation.

This book is great to read to children because it teaches them to find humor in their mistakes. The main character, Sage accidentally misunderstands one of the vocabulary words and is devastated. However, she ends up winning the vocabulary contest. Sometimes finding the humor in mistakes can pay off!

Great book dealing with vocabulary. You could use it to show how words can have more than one meaning!

This is a very good book. It could be used to introduce new vocabulary to students. It also sends the message that you can find humor in your mistakes as well as the opportunity to learn from your mistakes.

This is a great book to help students remember how important it is to pay attention when learning new vocabulary. Miss Alaineus is so embarrassed when she realizes that she misspelled and had the wrong interpretation of the word miscellaneous. In the end everything ok! Teach students that everyone makes a mistake and we learn from our mistakes. Great vocabulary lesson book.

Miss Alaineus is such a cute book! This book would be great to use in a classroom to help children remember to pay attention when learning new vocabulary. Also, it’s is a good book to look at the meanings of words.
