Not as good as Ilium, but still very good.

It answers a lot of the questions you form from the Ilium, however, it's not as rich or satisfying. The complexity dries up and the ending is much too pat. Not as good as the first, but not terrible.

Really intriguing story. It's about the Trojan War, but it features reanimated 20th century scholars who report on it to the gods. It also goes to a far distant future time when humans are able to "fax" themselves from place to place and seem to lead carefree hedonistic lives. But a dark danger lurks…

A great finale to the epic that started with Ilium.

Dan has all high flouting grandeur and scale of a Heinlein or even Asimov, but his characters are more alive, more to human scale; His stories are therefore more urgent, more personal. Read him, loved him, want more of 'em.

Anyone who likes dense, intelligent sci-fi should check these 6 Dan Simmons books out. I won't spoil them by telling you what the hell is going on in them--half the fun is in figuring it out as you read.

A good read, but not quite as good as Illium.

This sequel to Ilium wasn't quite as strong in my view, but still well worth the read.
