I've always admired what Rudy Guilani did for

I read this because I wanted to understand how Giuliani did such a great job during 9/11. Leadership styles differ, but in such a crisis a leader is tested to the limit. Giuliani appeared to me (from a few thousand miles away) to do a great job in providing focus for galvanising the reactions from a stunned population and providing a figure people could rally to. No-one says that leaders are not ego-driven, but Giuliani takes it to an extreme I have rarely seen. The number of times 'I' or 'me' is used illustrates a personality that is almost dangerous outside that moment in time when it was what was needed.

Good book. I only rated it 4 stars because there were some parts that were quite boring, but overall it was very good and informative regarding the qualities of a leader

I thought it was a very good book, and I had much admiration for the man. Unfortunately, some of that had diminished in light of revelations that had been forthcoming since it was published. Still a good read with some sage advice.

A truly exhilarating read. Written by a brilliant man. A man with integrity; a humble yet bold man, strong in his convictions. Giuliani is a man of great passion.
Truly refreshing to learn more about this great leader. This type of person is extremely rare, especially in this day and age. An excellent book

I was really looking forward to reading this book when I purchased it. The author did such an amazing job during the 9/11 crisis. I read the first 100 pages or so and really lost interest. I just couldn't get past how many times he used "I" and "me" as opposed to "us" and "we". A great leader, perhaps, but I really felt he lost sight of the fact that there was more than just him involved in making everything work. It's like he is trying to make the reader believe that nobody else in the administration could have done their own jobs without him telling them how to do it. Several times in the book the author mentions the danger of micromanaging, but it seems to me that that is the type of individual/manager that he is. In all fairness though, I tried again twice to pick up the book and finish it, but just couldn't seem to get by the image that he was portraying.

Rudy proves that he is a great administrator as well as a great writer. He says that "people work with their mind - but work with my philosophy". That ensures that he keeps his accountablity.

Nothing earth shattering, but good solid advice from a guy who has been through a lot. I read this for part of a class. I was lucky to get a book that was enjoyable, yet informative at the same time. I wouldn't agree with all of Mr. Giuliani's politics, but I respect the work he did in New York during a very difficult time.
