Overview: Editorial Review

African-American Birmingham attorney Jillian Newman has spent her life fighting for the downtrodden and playing watchdog over the local police department. When Jillian witnesses a terrifying murder in the midst of a violent thunderstorm, she becomes the hunted. After an attempt is made on her life, she is forced into police protection. Detective Harrison Blake, a hotshot Italian detective, is appointed her guardian. Although prepared for anything when it comes to murder, the last thing he expects is to fall for the woman at the center of his newest assignment. To make matters worse, she is the ex-wife of his nemesis, the district attorney. However, neither the difference in their races nor the scars of the past can keep their feelings caged. When another attempt is made on Jillian's life, Harrison will risk it all to save her.
