Any fan of baseball will love this book. It's a giant tome of a work, and it is filled with baseball statistics from back in the 1800s until the present. And Bill James lists the top 100 players for every position. He does this by using a remarkable formula he created called the "Win Shares" system. Very fun and fascinating.

If you enjoy baseball, you should have this book. It's that simple, really. A more complete look at the game has never been accomplished in a format outside of raw statistical enumeration. Great source for anecdotes, history, and arguments about the players, teams, and rules of the game.
