Like most German Christian theology, even this short text can feel like a mountain. Plus the writing style is very redundant. Start a chapter by reading only the first sentence of every paragraph and then read the chapter. That was helpful. Be sure to read a little about what was going on in Germany at the time he wrote this. The historical background is critical for getting a feel of the importance of his writings.

Have it sitting by my bed waiting to be read based on a recommendation but haven't yet started it. I guess that doesn't quite qualify as a 'review' then does it? Oh well, it's the reason that I've placed it on my 'shelf.'

This is one of my favorite books of all time. It is a book that makes me hope for what the Church can be here on Earth before we get to Heaven. This book makes me long for home.

Though a short read, Life Together packs in a lifetime of theology. Bonhoeffer covers the gamut living and operating in a Christian community. The final chapter, which I feel is the most important, deals with sin and confession, an oft to forgotten theological concept. Furthermore, Bonhoeffer takes his time in explaining through the use of scripture and examples spiritual concepts of corporate Christian living and shows how very real and applicable they are.
