“ I first read this in high school, like most people do, and I loved the witches. Great story if shoddy history (which is true of most of Shakespeare's plays, I suppose). One of my favorites. ”

It shows us how far a man, who used to be the most loyal soldier, can go in order to become a king. His wife, Lady Macbeth, is one of the most powerful, affective and dominant characters in the book. It was her, who put pressure on Macbeth to be the king, like the withches, who Macbeth met while walking with a friend, said. It's a masterpiece; if you haven't, don't wait a second to read this book!”

“Shakespeare's finest IMHO. Very dark, cyclical, and cool. Can really mine a lot from a close text analysis, like we did in my Shakespeare class with the redoubtable Prof Don Foster. ”
