Another great Elizabeth George book. This book, sans Lynley, shows Havers on her own & spotlights her own demons. Racism also plays a huge role in this book, which I appreciate George for highlighting in Britain.

This was a very good addition to the series. Barbara Havers all on her own and doing a fab job of it. In her own way.

One of the great aims of literature right now is to avoid racist endings, happy or otherwise. But Sgt. Havers is totally believable. Her guilt trips apropos to the DCI's spartan personal habits are just so hilarious and human.
