“This is a great read for anyone who suspects their relationship with alcohol which is anything other than righteous and innocent, the book will actually convince you that nobody’s relationship with alcohol is good unless it is non-existent. The facts about alcohol presented here prove there is no good reason to drink, and there is the problem: a lot of people drink for a kind of low level self-destruction, to not want to hurt yourself is another book altogether. That said, I keep dipping into this book when I have my occasional non-drinking periods. If I choose not to drink for an indefinite stretch I get quite absolute about it (never understood “just ONE drink”, why bother?) and this book helps with the self imposed body fascism. Some great points that stand out in this book: alcoholism is not a disease/”addictive personality” is a myth, remembering how it took time to start drinking (the first drink tasted rough) and how all alcohol is made out of rotting foodstuff. ”
