It may be old, but it's very informative. Interesting as well.

I've read this a hundred times - still find things new in it - if you substitute the word "write" for whatever your passion is I think you'll find some inspiration too - every time you read it.. and it's $.99 plus shipping. What a bargain.

Bought it for my love for writing. The book talks about much more that just writing!

One of the few books I've read multiple times. Enlightening and inspiring. About much more than writing.

This is a book that all writers – professional and amateurs – should keep and revisit every once in a while. Ueland is like a really supportive and generous friend who coaches you in finding the writer within you and letting go of the fears and insecurities that are holding you back. Like the other books on writing, it is not just about writing but being an authentic and creative person. At the heart of the book is the simple edict: A writer must write. It doesn’t get any simpler (or harder) than that!

This is a book I turn to again and again for inspiration about lots of things besides just writing. Great for anyone trying to accomplish something creative who feels stuck. It's been around for a while. It's packed full of sage advice from a master at her craft. My husband gave it to me as a gift and I have to say it's probably the best book he's given me. He's given me a lot of books and we've been together 14 years!

Some cute sections, but I got the point after 30 pages. Better for creative writing types.

Written and published in 1938, this book on the creative spirit and writing no matter whether you feel you have talent or not was mildly disappointing. Ueland, a writer and former teacher, motivates with positive reinforcement and kind words about struggling creative types throughout the short book. Unfortunately, some of the samples she uses to demonstrate "exemplary" writing are very often not very good. Also, the overall thesis of the book takes all kinds of detours that veer it off course, flights of the author's fancy that just feel random and more like rants than truly helpful ideas/information. Not a total waste of time, but better suited to those who are not sure they want to write and need a little nudge in that direction, or feel discouraged that they are not doing enough writing. Definitely a "beginner's" book. (Read 11/03)
