“Seniors in high school, Sara and Tobey couldnt be more different. She is focused on getting into her first-choice college; he wants to win Battle of the Bands. Sara`s other goal is to find true love, so when Dave, a poular jock, asks her out, she`s thrilled. But then there`s Tobey. His amazing blue eyes and quirky wit always creep into her thoughts. Lucky for Sara, one of Tobeys goals is also to make her fall in love with him.
I thought this book was a little young for me, once I started reading it but, i worked threw it and read it, and quite enjoyed it, actually. It was a very cute book, and I liked that the book was told in alternating points of views, whereas Sara and Tobey were the narrators for their own sides of the story. ”

This is my first book by Susane. I've been wanting to read something by her for a while, I think I even have all of her books on my TBR/wish list, but I've never gotten to until now. I got When It Happens in the mail a while ago for RAK, and I'm really glad I did. This was Susane's debut novel and I'm glad I read it first. All of her books sounds really good. This was a great read!
It's very cute and very hilarious at times. I was always shaking my head at how Sara and Tobey acted around each other. I loved the way the point-of-view alternated. One chapter was Sara's POV and then the next would be Tobey's. It really gave you both sides of the story and the whole process of how their relationship goes.
Sara and Tobey were so realistic. Half the time when I was reading this, I got so sucked in that I forgot I was reading a book. Now THAT is a great read. When a book can completely just suck you in and make you forget that it's not real. This book has really made me realize how much I love contemporary. I mean, I love my paranormal, but I've been reading so many lately and haven't added in much contemporary. I'll definitely work on adding in a lot more of them.
Overall, this book was great. A very fast, very enjoyable read. You'll be flying through the pages and finish it before you know it. I sure did, and I'm kind of sad about that because I'd love to read more about Sara and Tobey. They are so cute and they make you want to just keep reading and reading and reading more about them. *le sigh* Romaaanceee.”
“The book “When it Happens” by Susane Colasanti was an amazing book! I would read the book again without thinking about. The book was mainly about a girl named Sara going into her senior year wanting “something real” with a guy, Sara has been waiting all summer for a guy named Dave to call her. Dave was a new student to Sara’s school for the last months of their junior year, he had asked for her number the last day of school before getting out of their junior year. On the first day of school Sara was so happy because they already have classes together. Maggie, Sara’s friend asked Dave why he hadn’t called over the summer but he said he had been out of town and didn’t have time. But right after school, Dave calls Sara and asks her out on a date to the movies. Sara couldn’t believe it because all her past years of high school guys would never notice her, and it was her first date with a guy. After a while, they started going out but then she met Tobey. Tobey had been in love with her all these past years of high school, so he decided he should make a move and ask her out, problem is his one of the shy quiet ones and he doesn’t know that she’s already going out with Dave. When Tobey asks her out to the date Sara said yes without even thinking about it. Sara had been in before with him and Sara and Dave have been problems lately so she agreed, so she could let her mind out of Dave. At the end Sara breaks up with Dave and at last has something real with her perfect guy Tobey.
“When it Happens” was a really good book, I would recommend it to anyone who likes romantic and funny books. This book had a little bit of humor into it, but sweet at the same time. I like the way the author decided to write the book, one chapter would be Sara’s, then Dave’s, and Tobey’s. So every character had its own chapter. What I didn’t like was the ending, I like happy endings with something exiting to look forward to the next book, but this book was just like a plain happy ending. Otherwise this book was really good, and hopefully the second one is even better.
