“January 6, 2012 (Page 341- I finished the book) One of the stories i read was called "Sketches". The group of 5th grade girls wouldn't play kickball instead they would sit at a picnic table drawing. They would sometimes draw things like prom dresses but Kristina could never get it perfect. In high school two days before the prom Kristina's boyfriend dumped her for another girl. She ended up going with her best friend Danielle. When they were both grown up Danielle called Kristina while she was at work. They talked about the prom and said stuff like," I'm sure nobody is still as close to their prom date as we still are. When they hung up Kristina realized it's the little stuff in life that's important, like a phone call from a friend and a good laugh
December 30, 2011 (Page 288) One of the stories i read was called "The Five Flavors". It was a group of 5 girls that have been friends since fourth grade, they all got nicknames then starting calling themselves The Five Flavors. One day they decided they would all have a sleepover in a big tent, and that night they all stayed up talking, laughing, telling stories, eating candy and more fun. They decided they would have this every year and started calling it "Tradition". The Five Flavors discussed that even though they will start to seperate during Junior High and High School, they will always have Tradition every year. They kept that and even though during the year they wouldn't usually say a word to eachother, the day Tradition came it felt like they had never left eachother.
December 23, 2011 (Page 214) One of the stories I read was called " An Unexpected Reaction". It was about a girl who's parents just got divorced, now her mom can't afford to send her to a private school anymore. That means she won't be able to finish 8th grade with all of her friends that she has known since she was 6 years old. She wasn't having the easiest time in school until she met a girl named Ally. They started becoming even better friends and then Ally announced she was having a slumber party, She was told that she was invited and that she needed to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and other stuff like make-up. She couldn't stop talking about it until she pulled into Ally's driveway. When she went up to the door Ally's mom answered with a worried look on her face. The mom called up Ally and told her she couldn't have a colored girl sleeping in her house. Ally was complaining and saying," Carmen is my friend, and if she can't stay nobody can. A couple minutes later all of the girls that were already there starting filing out of the front door, waiting for their moms to come and get them. She said that night that Ally proved she was a true best friend.
December 16, 2011 (Page 153) One of the stories I read was called "She's My Sister". It was a story about a 16 year old sister and a 12 year old boy. She said whenever she looked at him, she wanted to see the boy that he used to be. The one that was always asking her to play football, build a clubhouse, or catch bugs. Not the boy he is today the one that that gelled his hair into spikes, gave nicknames like "Sister C", wore his pants to low, watched MTV, and listened to rap music. That summer Matthew went to a summer camp, where the older sister volunteered. He was ignoring her the whole camp because he was hanging out with the "Cool guys group". Then on the last day of camp when the sister was walking up the steps to her cabin, her little brother called," Christina come play football with us!, We need one more good player!" She was suprised but accepted the offer, and when they picked teams sadly they were put on opposite teams. When Christinas team got the ball they wouldn't pass her the ball even when she was wide open, so thats when the little brother started yelling things like "It's a good thing you arent passing to her or we would be losing" and stuff like that. Then he yelled "She's my sister", that night matthew proved that he would always care about her.
December 9,2011 (Page 96) One of the stories i read was called "Losing My Best Friend". It was about a girl and her best friend Kristen who have been friends forever. Then one night Kirtsen called Amanda saying she was moving, Amanda was devastated. They had a farewell party for her and while Kristen was opening Amanda's present, Amanda stood up and read a poem that even touched the other people at the party. When they were moving Amanda went back with Kirstens family, she helped move in and was hanging out with Kirsten. They went to the mall and went swimming, when she went back home they wrote emails, phone calls, and texted all the time. Amanda said it never felt like she was a thousand miles away, and they still remained Best Friends.
December 2, 2011 (Page 50) One of the stories i read in my book were called "Thanks Mom". The story was about a girl who was involved in many school activities. The mom was there at every football game, every concert, and every competition cheering her on. Her mom actually liked being there, and the girl didnt appreciate it until one day when her mom wasnt there. She didn't realize how much she loved her mom there, until she wasn't. (:”

“This book taught me a lot of important things when it comes to dealing with family and friendship problems. I can relate to their stories, I think that is what I love the most about Chicken Soup books.”Charlotte Garcia wrote this review Friday, November 20, 2009.
