I might take your review more seriously if you actually substantiated what you disagreed with. Hiding behind your religion as an excuse for imprecise critique is a cop-out.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez isn't French. He's Colombian.
And there is no rule saying all literature or art has to follow the traditions/rules of a religion. You can still enjoy a story with characters/plots that you wouldn't approve of in real life (it's fiction remember) and keep your faith intact.

Gabriel García Márquez was born in Colombia, and writes in Spanish, his native tongue--and every other Colombian's.

So what if you're a Muslim? Doesn't change the fact that Gabriel wrote a book which won him the Nobel Price. Ingrid is right. I'm a born again Christian and most of the things written in this book does not agree with my religion. But I still think it's a fantastic book...well written. Gabriel is such a poet.

Let me ask you "are you truly depicting the religion or its just a matter of pride for you? As far as i know Islam does not stop its followers to learn, explore or appreciate something which is really up to the standards. It would have been better if you could have made point of difference instead of being proud to be such a muslim who shuns pleasure of reading a book. Being a muslim I like the book rather its my favorite, and i have not found anything in the book that could shake the pillars of my faith.
