I really enjoyed this book. It was definitely weird, and the storytelling was in no way linear. I liked the challenge it presented. I can definitely understand why there are entire classes dedicated to it. It is the story of a family of slaves before, during and after the war and their supsequent...

One of the most acclaimed novels of the last 30 years. I don't get it. It must be me.

Toni Morrison is one of my favorite authors. Brilliant writing, fantastic storytelling.

I love this story (and the movie was really good as well). Morrison has a real talent for abstraction which strikes at all cognitive levels. Another story where I personally wonder: Did this happen? Is the mother psychotic from PTSD? Is the daughter psychotic from isolation? Really superb characters who bring the reality of slavery home on a very personal level.

I liked the book better than the movie. This is a wonderful fiction master piece. It has so many twist and turns to it. The bases of it is about a woman that escaped slavery but still had to face so much more while raising her three children. Oh but wait there is a forth child where did she come from and what does she want .

Beloved by Tonu Morrison was a world win of a novel to read. In order to fully grasp the impact of the novel you have to stick with it and try to think of the position of the Sethe, Denver, Paul D, and Beloved herself. Parts of it complete shocked me, but it is a must read especially those who are interested in the impact of slavery.

One of the most beautifully written books. If there's a way to understand the slave experience, this has got to come close.

I do not like Morrison's writing and thought this was particularly bad.
