Threatens to become the most popular memoir of all time. If you wish to experience the essence of Irish -- the gallows humor, the gut-wrenching pathos, the soaring love of language and story-telling – I can think of no other writer who has captured it so marvelously. Don’t let the bizarre...

"Angela's Ashes" is an autobiographical story of Frank McCourt growing up in Ireland during the depression and World War II. Through the entire book I just really wanted something good to happen to this family, but it never does.

I really enjoyed this book, I found it very interesting and I plan on reading the sequel, it was a nice change of pace of some of the other books I've read lately.

This is a great book that further proves and bring forth the misery, poverty and sufferage that an individual can go through, throughout their childhood and which is brandished inside the mind like an uneraseable tattoo...

that really pulled my heartstrings and i'd say, like most critics do, it's McCourt's best work out of the memoirs.

Angela was a pathetic excuse for a woman and a mother.
Book well written by Frank McCourt who was an inspiration
and a credit to his people.
In the Limerick of today, he would probably have been a gangster..........

You can almost hear McCourt's beautiful Irish lilt in his writing. Gripping tale of poverty and perseverance.
