“I enjoyed this book, but in the end, wasn't amazed by it. The exquisite detail of the story (with footnotes as long as the associated chapter in some cases) was enthralling, but the story itself was average. It was like admiring the fit and finish of a house without appreciating its structure.
This book is incredibly long, and the ending I felt was anti-climatic. But then again, I don't think it was written to fit into a "great ending" mold. The beauty is in the details...”
