“Enjoyable day-by-day account of the 2004 Boston Red Sox championship season as chronicled by authors and diehard Sox fanatics Stewart O'Nan and Stephen King. The authors collaborated on this effort from the 2003 off-season through the end of 2004. This was not written simply because the team finally won its long overdue championship. As such, it presents the genuine ups and downs that the two men were experiencing throughout the season.”

I like to satart each season with a different book about baseball, and this was Stephen King, so I figured I could deal with a book about the Red Sox. My plans quickly changed when I realized that this book really was basically a diary of EVERY SINGLE GAME OF THE SEASON. I changed tactics and decided to read it as the new season progressed, basically reading one entry every day. This ended up being a fun strategy and the book was quite enjoyable. As far as ratings go: I would say if you are a Sox fan: 5 stars; baseball fan: 3 stars; non-baseball fan - you probably wouldn't enjoy this book.”

Though you know what's coming next, you get just as excited as when you lived it. King has some great perspective and can be very amusing. O'Nan does more of the scene-setting and stat talk which could drag a little since I'm not overly interested in the stats. Probably necessary though. It was also interesting to read during baseball season as I was thinking some of the same things they had thought and seeing recurrances of things they had noted. Plus you can't beat the picture on the cover! A nice companion to 'The Red Sox Movie'.”

Having these two writers there to chronicle this most important of Red Sox seasons is a great treat.”

This book goes through the historic 2004 Red Sox season again based on the views of two diehards in Stewart O'Nan and the famous Stephen King. This book really shows the ups and downs during the season and the way true fans take it to heart. And it just so happens to be the season that the Red Sox finally break the curse. No one can forget that final Red Sox-Yankees series of the season when the Red Sox came back from a 3-0 series lead deficit to win four straight to reach the world series, where they went on to finish the season in a eight game winning streak and the World Championship at last. Even the regular baseball fan would come to like this book, which is truly entertaining and real.”
