A great collection of stories, anecdotes, and even poems about baseball, including entries from Tallulah Bankhead's autobiography (and her love of the Giants. Argh. Go Dodgers) to pitching dynamo Satchel Paige's ode to succeeding in baseball and life. Each entry comes with a capsule summary of the author's life, and the facts are often interesting. For instance the author of the famous Casey at the bat poem/story never wrote another published piece, feeling that Casey was his magnus opus. This is a wonderful series of stories with insider scoops on cloaked players like Joe DiMaggio and even excerpts from classic baseball lore like The Natural.
