“I didn't know what to expect when I started this book, and halfway through the book I didn't expect to want to finish it because I don't like horror stories. But by the time it was done I was rooting for Joe and hoping he would survive. Joe Pitt was infected by the Vampyr virus 30 years ago and he's been trying to keep what's left of his humanity ever since. He's gone rogue after being the Society's bat boy and he doesn't want to get involved with the Coalition other than odd jobs. His self proclaimed job - to keep the streets clear of zombies, who, of course love to eat brains. And that's where the book starts - Joe is chasing down 3 zombies that are looking for some sweetbread snack but it goes bad and Joe realizes there is a "carrier" out there someone or something infecting the people with the zombie bacteria. Pretty soon Joe is getting beat up by both sides and being made to work for the Coalition. The book careens along from one dizzying scene to another with tense writing and gory scenes. Not for the faint of heart but a solid book with a finish that left me not only enjoying the book but looking for more of Joe kicking *ss sometime soon.”
