“One thing I am constantly fascinated by with Michael Crichton's books is the sheer attention to detail and meticulous research that clearly goes into these books. I always feel like I come away from a Crichton novel having learned a few things. I think that's one of the aspects that make the world so immersive, the fact that it's largely based on facts and make what seem to be very plausible theories and speculation seem like they could very well be a reality.. The thing with TLW and Jurassic Park is that they're fairly dated books by today's standards but I never question the science too much. That's Science fiction at it's best in my opinion.
Another thing I really loved about this book was the characters. Levine the brat, the two pretty cool kids and ofc Sarah mo'fuckin' Harding. What an absolute badass. I absolutely loved the films, but frankly it was a letdown compared to this book, because this book was a 5 star w-i-t-h-o-u-t question and my standards are pretty high nowadays.
Oh and of course what would this be without Malcolm going off on huge rants and his constant stream of social commentary? To be honest this may seem gratuitous and irritating to some people but to me I always thought they were on point and actually fairly thought provoking.
Anyway, yeah. Michael Crichton is awesome. Dinosaurs are awesome. Well-written plausible Sci-fi is awesome. And Malcolm's Orwellian rants are awesome. Read eeet”
