• Caitlin: She is the main character and the one who is telling the story. She befriends Lucas.
• Lucas: He is the mystery boy. New on the island he is subjected to the taunting and prejudice of the close minded inhabitants of Caitlin's town.
• Lucas: Lucas was pretty much the main character although the book wasn't written in his point of view. The author exaggerates and makes it so obvious that Lucas isn't doing anything wrong during the whole entire book. Even when the whole community turns on him he keeps going.
