The Gun Seller

by Hugh Laurie

British actor and comedian Hugh Laurie's first book is a spot-on spy spoof about hapless ex-soldier Thomas Lang, who is drawn unwittingly and unwillingly into the center of a dangerous James Bond-like plot of international terrorists, arms dealing, high-tech weapons, and CIA spooks. As you may know, this book was written back in the late nineties by Hugh Laurie, or Gregory House for all you House fans. I was not expecting the British short humor writing style when I first started reading this book. Once i got used to it, it turned out to be a really good story. The main character Thomas Lang is written so well that I could actually see Hugh Laurie playing the lead if a movie was ever made out of this story. The Thomas Lang character is written very closely to how Gregory House acts. Almost makes me wonder if Hugh Laurie helps write on House. Anyway, a good all around read!

I really liked this book. It was funny, serious, complicated and fun. The first part of the book is relatively involved and there are plenty of twists along the way. The second part went by much quicker almost to the point where I wanted more. The ending was nice but almost abrupt. It is a great first effort by Mr. Laurie. I look forward to the possibility of this becoming a movie.
Great Author

Strong reports are coming in that a movie is to be made about this book.
Hugh Laurie is an amazing actor, but this proves he is an amazing writer as well. I was laughing my [...] off reading this book. I would be interested to see any future books from Mr. Laurie, given he has the time, and should want to retire his acting career.
very smart and funny
