This is one of my all time favourite books, and perhaps Llosa's finest creation. It's simply wonderful, as it shows the constant struggle for freedom of a girl, who changes identities, husbands, loves, money, prejudices as she travels around the world, searching for absolute freedom. The man who loves her would do anything for her, and he meets her in every new posture she has, but never gets to tame her. She was born to be a free spirit, but she dies like a good old lady, with nothing left...
